Afterglow
"Tell me that you're still mine". A short line from Taylor Swift's composition from the album "Lover," which has become one of the fan favorites since then. This hit song has captured the hearts of everybody, especially around Valentine's Day, since it is based on a form of conceptual process linking with the past with a certain person. Every store I visited to on February 14th most likely played this behind those walls and speakers. Yet every minute, every phrase of hearing this on repeat has made me understand how I wasted someone who sacrificed everything for me without realizing how close that person was.
Valentine's Day. For one thing, they must have shared large, beautiful bouquets of flowers or various chocolate packs with their beloved. Yet, in my experience, I spent my day regularly. Nothing unusual, just a typical day and cycle. Yet when I went home from school, the song "Afterglow" kept playing in my head. That gave me that fleeting feeling and reminded me of that one specific person. I never expected that individual to care for me. I had never imagined that someone so volatile would go to such lengths merely to be seen.
After a few seconds, I got to my senses and started to walk again way home. Reminiscing what could have been, should have been. Then, I realized that loving someone is really subjective. Because, at the end of the day, it is your decision. And pick someone who actually loves you. Pick someone who will stick around.
